 Remember, remember!
    The fifth of November,
    The Gunpowder treason and plot;
    I know of no reason
    Why the Gunpowder treason
    Should ever be forgot!
    Guy Fawkes and his companions
    Did the scheme contrive,
    To blow the King and Parliament
    All up alive.
    Threescore barrels, laid below,
    To prove old England's overthrow.
    But, by God's providence, him they catch,
    With a dark lantern, lighting a match!

I am a descendant of Sir Thomas Knevitt - the 17th century noble who caught out Guy Fawkes and stopped him from blowing up the houses of parliament. When authorities learned of the plot, on November 1, they appointed Knevitt to investigate - who allowed the plot to continue, so he and his men could catch the conspirators in the act.
