Easter Eggstravaganza

Think Beach!

Who's ready for floppy hats and flip flops? To get ready for the season, here's a few items to check off: 1. Is it time to renew your Beach Pass? 2. Check the condition of your beach towels, discard any that are shabby or cut them up for cleaning cloths, even better, donate to your local animal shelters, they can always use towels.

3. Check the condition of your beach chairs, sunglasses, umbrellas, floats and toys. Donate unwanted items and throw out broken ones.  When shopping look for deals on summer goods such as sunglasses and suntan lotion.  4. Organize your personal beach bag. It's "Get Organized Month"

It’s a new year and time to organize the house after your guests have left, the kids have returned to school and life gets back to normal once again.  

Sending thank you notes for gifts and hospitality you received over the holidays is a good place to start. 

If you have gifts to return or exchange, try to do this this week, as many stores have a 30 day return policy to receive a refund, however,  some extend this period after Christmas. 

As you put away your new gloves, scarves and sweaters etc., consider donating the ones you already have and reduce overcrowding in your closet.

It's the Christmas Countdown!

Let's kick some items off the To Do list early!

So, it's October, not even Halloween, not even Thanksgiving, but domestic divas are ahead of the game.  To make a start with your holiday preparations, consider doing the following:

Start a Gift Ideas list noting sizes, color preferences, brands, favorite activities and any hints you have picked up

Order and purchase your Holiday Cards.

Make a list of your favorite stocking stuffers and keep an eye out for them when shopping.

Make a list of hostess and vendor gifts you need to buy.  Purchase non perishable items.

Write a family newsletter to send out with your card.

Purchase your holiday paper goods, gift wrap, tape and ribbon.

Address and stamp your holiday card envelopes.  Check international mailing deadlines!

That's a great start!  Next time you are in the stores you can smile at the Christmas Displays knowing you've got that handled already!

My kids are leaving soon to head back to college.  In the beginning of the season we cleaned out the garage and checked over all our beach and pool equipment and toys, then never gave the garage another thought, until now.  It’s been pretty much a dumping ground for bikes and beach chairs and so what, it was summer.  While I have the extra hands to help, I want to have a quick tidy up, purge and hose down.  It won’t take long to do now, if we all chip in.  If and when we have to bring our outdoor furniture in, the garage will be clean and organized for us to do so.

Top Tips for What Needs Organizing in September

Fall is approaching

So, the kids are back in school, the holiday makers have left town and we are adjusting to our new schedules. It's time to put away summer. Pass through your home and remove all of summers clutter to its rightful home or out the door! Switch out your summery decor of throws, cushions and floral arrangements for warmer fall tones. We can't stop the changes in the seasons but we can embrace them!

It's never too early

Dare I mention that it's 107 days until Christmas? To get a head start, shop for your holiday cards now. You will be rewarded with early bird savings on return address printing and even free shipping, for ordering before the end of this month. Take note that square cards often require more postage. While you are waiting for them to arrive, draft a newsletter/update to send out, to family and friends, with your cards. Address and stamp your cards as soon as they arrive. 

Shake off the sand

Continuing with the end of summer clean up, it's time to sweep out the garage and store your cleaned summer furniture and beach toys, chairs and umbrellas. Throw out any broken items.  To compensate for this sad but inevitable demise of the season, set your fire place with logs ready for the first chill! I feel like this post needs a wine pairing!

Temperature changes
